The Entity: - The Amulet
Thea
sat on the stool in front of her dressing table and looked at herself in the
mirror. She was pretty to say the least. She was tall, lean and petite, and she
had sharp enticing features, and made for a sultry, attractive, woman that could
catch the eye of any man, with the exception of the man that she had set her
heart on. He seemed oblivious to her attentions, and no matter how hard she
tried, and despite the numerous figure hugging, and revealing outfits that
she’d used during their meetings, he never as much as gave her a suggestive
look, and that for some reason or the other made her want him all the more.
Born in an affluent family in Chiang Mai, she was not short of money, and she
could more than afford to splurge on herself on a regular basis, but despite
all her efforts, the man that she had her eyes on didn’t seem like he wanted to
take their relationship further. Somewhat disheartened, she consulted a friend,
who was well-versed in these matters, and she in turn made arrangements for her
to meet a shaman. “Don’t worry her friend told her”, “they are very helpful”,
she said, and Thea knew that her friend was not wrong. She knew that shamans
were in the business of helping others, and she agreed to meet the shaman, and
her friend arranged for them to meet.
She
made it to the shaman’s office, shamanism was somewhat of a prospering
business, and many shamans had offices where their clients could meet them. She
walked into the office minutes after she’d parked her car and met a man who was
no taller than 5’ 5’ in height, on the skinnier side of things, maybe it was
more appropriate to call him lean, with a headful of white hair. “Come”, he
said, after he had briefly introduced himself to her. He led her to a table and
gestured with his hand for her to take a seat before he sat in front of her.
“How can I help you?”, he asked, and Thea quickly told him about her troubles,
and the man nodded his head. He thought about it for a minute or so, he knew
that the woman that was sitting in front of him was not short of money, and he
said to her, “I have an amulet that might help you win over the man that you’re
interested in”, and Thea was more than willing to listen to him. “It is however
costly, it is not something that you can easily find, and it is old”. Thea knew
that the price of amulets, could range from a mere few dollars, to thousands,
and she responded by saying “I’m interested”. They haggled for about fifteen
minutes before they settled on a price, and some twenty thousand dollars later,
she left the man’s office with the amulet around her neck.
She
wore it to work the next day, and went to meet the man that she desired, they
were briefly working together on a project, and for the first time, since
they’d met, he started to take a keener interest in her, and she instantly knew
that the amulet was working. They met again the next day, and the day after,
and they were soon dating, and a week later, their relationship took a turn in
the direction that she wanted it to, and they became intimate. A couple of
months later, they were married. The relationship as far as Thea was concerned
was everything that she could have hoped for. He was the perfect husband who
dotted on her and did everything that he could to please her. It occurred to
her that she’d somehow subdued his will to resist but that suited her
perfectly. A year later, they tried to have a child, money was not an issue,
they were both wealthy, and Thea did conceive, but she had a miscarriage, and
though the couple were somewhat disappointed, they did not give up and they
tried again, and Thea conceived again, and yet again she had a miscarriage.
The couple continued trying, but Thea could never carry a child full-term, and distraught and disappointed, unknown to her husband, with the aid of her friend that had helped her the first time around, she consulted a priest who was knowledgeable in matters relating to the occult, and it was discovered that the reason that she was unable to conceive was because of the amulet that she wore around her neck and while it did assist her in keeping the man that she desired wrapped around her finger, it demanded a price, and that was the life of the fetus. “You can sell the amulet, it is worth a small fortune but as soon as you part with it, your husband will come to his senses and he will leave you”, the priest had said to her, “the choice is ultimately yours” he continued, but Thea had made her decision well before he’d finished, and she’d made up her mind not to have any children. The couple lived out the remainder of their lives in blissful happiness, and upon her death, the amulet passed on to one of Thea’s sisters, who sold it for four times the price Thea had paid for it, and it is currently in the possession of a private collector. The amulet was made by a monk from a distant monastery some two hundred years or so before Thea had acquired it, and it was made for the daughter of a local chieftain, who had set her heart on a man and wished to marry him. It is known as the Auria-lia amulet, and it is currently valued at US$80,000.
