One love, one heart, one destiny - Madhya Pradesh
Located in the heart of India, Madhya Pradesh
is the perfect place and it welcomes you with all the love the world has to
offer. From the oldest collection of caves in India to the latest Jal Mahotsav,
it has everything.
There has been so much development in Madhya
Pradesh in recent times that it almost takes your breath away but despite that the
state has preserved all its historic and natural sites, places that will leave
you mesmerized and possibly the best stress relief on offer.
Let’s start with the latest i.e., the Jal
Mahotsav. It is India's only and largest water carnival, hosted by Hanuwantiya
near the Khandwa district in the backwaters of Indira Sagar Dam on the river Narmada.
"Mowgli", "Jungle Book",
have you heard these names? Of course! you have. The story is inspired by the
forests in the Pench Tiger reserve and the Kanha National Park.
The tiger reserves, also known as the
Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, is a place where, in addition to normal tigers, you
can also see other exotic wildlife like white tigers, crocodiles, and numerous
other amphibians and reptiles. In Hindu mythology it is the place Lord Rama
gifted to his younger brother Lakshmana.
Let’s shift from the mythological age to the
age of rulers and their forts. There were numerous forts in the region under
different rulers. Whether it is Gwalior fort, Jahaj Mahal in Mandu, or the Buddhist
stupas in Sanchi that were constructed on the orders of Emperor Ashoka the
Great, or the town of Orchha which was founded by the Bundela Rajput Chief,
Rudra Pratap in the 16th century, all of them are major tourist attractions.
In addition to that there are also numerous
natural reserves, enough to satisfy the insatiable appetite of even the most
ardent nature enthusiast. Queen of Satpura, Pachmarhi, the only hill station in
Madhya Pradesh, is one example. The marble rocks, located in Bhedaghat along
the Narmada river near the city of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, is another. It
is a picturesque setting that extents for about 8 km.
Do you want to know something interesting
about the demographics of the state? Well, Madhya Pradesh has the largest tribal
strength in India, which includes the Gond, Bhil, Baiga, etc. Chanderi sarees,
which are worn across the globe, is a hand-woven trade that has been plied
since the 11th century. The state is also the birthplace of many famous
personalities including freedom fighters like Chandra Shekhar Azad, singers
like Lata Mangeshkar, children rights activists like Kailash Satyarthi, and
many more.
This is just an overview of the state and we will
discuss more in detail soon. Stay updated!
